Further Information about "Karma Police"
Jonny: "It was a band catchphrase for a while on tour - whenever someone was behaving in a particularly shitty way, we'd say "The karma police will catch up with him sooner or later." You have to rely on something like that, even though we're probably just kidding ourselves. But it's not a revenge thing, just about being happy with your own behaviour."
Thom: "Karma is an important idea. I like it. It makes me nicer to people. It fills me with joy. This song makes me laugh. It was Ed's idea."
Ed: When someone in the band behaved like an asshole, one of the others always said : "The Karma Police is gonna get you". I suppose it's all rubbish that your destiny depends on your deeds in a previous life, but you have to trust on something.
During the shoot of the Karma Police video, carbon monoxide was thrown out of the air conditioner, so as Thom sang and performed for the video, he was poisoning himself to death. During the final "I lost myself" refrain, he fainted. Right after they were done, they took him out of the car and gave him oxygen. He got better. [thanks dave s.]
